Kristina Matthews of Brett Vale had an outstanding round to win the Sybil Green Cup for the best scratch score at Bungay & Waveney Valley Golf Club.  She had only 1 birdie (on the tricky 9th hole) but her consistent ‘tee to green’ play allowed her to play 6 shots below her handicap.  Abbie Symonds of Ipswich GC, a past winner of this event on several occasions had to settle for 2nd place, closely followed by Mariette Robbertse of BsE.

The Division 1 net prize went to Amanda Little of Ufford Park.  With 3 birdies on her scorecard her handicap should continue to drop.  Last year Amanda was 4 shots higher and playing in Division 2.

The huge and magnificent Challenge Shield for the lowest 3 gross scores from the same club went to Bury St Edmunds for the second consecutive year.

Congratulations to Mariette Robbertse, Bianca Theeruth and Elizabeth Bezance with a gross total of 249.

Results:

1st Scratch Kristina Matthews (Brett Vale) 74 gross
2nd Scratch Abbie Symonds (Ipswich) 76 gross

1st Net 68 Amanda Little (Ufford Park)
2nd Net 71 ocb Mariette Robbertse (BsE)
3rd Net 71 Mary Seymour Taylor (Aldeburgh)

A big thank you to Frances Danielsen and Di Hegarty for being in charge on the day (so I could play) and to Bungay GC and everyone involved in helping to make the event such a success.

Next year the Division 1 Meeting will be at Thorpeness on Saturday 28th September 2024.
