On a blistering hot day 27 teams of four played at Hintlesham today on a course that was playing very well.  This was followed by a lovely 2 course meal.  Once again Hintlesham staff did us proud, the food was enjoyed by all.

The draw raised £520 which will go toward junior development. Thank you all that supported.
It was a close matched game with 4 teams coming in with 83 pts.

2023 East Suffolk Golf Day

Well done to the winners of the East Suffolk Suffolk Golf Day held today at Bungay Golf Club. They were R. Draper, E. Cole, D. Leeder and P. Bridges of Diss Golf Club. This team ran away with a great win today. See full results below.

A special thanks goes to Bungay for hosting the shotgun start and for producing a delicious lasagne followed by apple crumble or roulade after the round.

The teams all got round with no rain and lovely sunshine. A great start to the golfing season.

Only 4 spaces left for Hintlesham in August.

2021 Suffolk Golf Day

Suffolk Golf Day at Hintlesham…

It was with a great deal of relief that we were able to hold the annual golf day at Hintlesham on August 9th 2021. After missing last year due to the Covid pandemic it was lovely to welcome 132 lady golfers from 14 of the clubs across Suffolk.

The format was teams of four, stableford scoring, 85% handicap with best three scores to count. Shotgun start with 2 teams off each tee apart from the par three holes. Nearest the pin was on the 6th and 13th holes.

Unfortunately, the weather did not start well with rain falling until around 11 o’clock. Then the skies cleared and the umbrellas could be put away and the rest of the day stayed fine and warm.

Prizes of vouchers to be spent in the pro shop were awarded to 5th place with gloves for 6th place, socks for 7th place and 2 sleeves of balls for nearest the pin. Amanda Norman kindly agreed to present the prizes and the winners of the trophy were a team from Ipswich GC with 112 points.

Thanks to Viv Kemp, Rita Alcock, Ann Maskell and Irma Suttle helped during the day with signing players in and selling raffle tickets.

Extended thanks to Henry Roblin, the proprietor, Lorraine Grunberg, the office manager and Catherine Swann, the catering manager, were, as always, more than helpful and make organising and running the day so much simpler. Mr Roblin to be given a donation in thanks for hosting the event as he does not charge anything for the golf.

This is the final time of organising the SGD for me. It has been hard work but extremely rewarding to host and organise such a popular event. Next year I hope to be playing in it.

A provisional date has been set for Monday August 8th 2022
