Suffolk v Bedfordshire

The first day of the Junior County Match Week saw some great golf from a very young Suffolk squad.  They were playing Bedfordshire and went down by 5-1 but the Suffolk team gained valuable know-how from their more experienced opponents.

Captain Georgia Parker, who was promoted to the ladies 1st team earlier in the season, was first out against C Staroscik. The first hole was halved in birdies and after that Georgia never looked back.  She kept the match under control until an errant tee shot at fifteen let her opponent back in, but she was one up going down eighteen and hit a great shot from 180 yards to the back of the green to win her point 2up.

The rest of the team is a little less practiced than the captain and struggled to keep pace with their far more experienced opponents from Bedfordshire. Rio Everitt enjoyed a close match on the front 9.  She birdied the par 5 first for a half but, despite losing three holes on the bounce on the back nine, she kept going for 16 holes. Sophie Kubitzek, Juliette Coffey and Natasha Gregory all making their debut appearances played some good golf while Jessica Buck put in a really sterling performance in taking her match to the fourteenth.
