A chilly wind greeted the players on the second day of Junior County Match Week.
The dependable Georgia Parker led the team out against Millie Penfold and was soon into her stride with a 180-yard approach to two feet for eagle at five. It was a tight match all the way but, unfortunately, Georgia lost eighteen to finish all square.
Playing Maura Burns-Zaragoza, Rio Everitt was always up against it. Though she went down early, Rio pulled back a few notches mid-round but eventually ran out of holes on fifteen losing by 4/3.
Sophie Kubitzek enjoyed a very close match with Ciara Rushmer with no more than two holes in it all the way round. Sophie won the uphill 17th to take the match down the last which was great. However, unfortunately, she then played the wrong ball which meant she lost the hole and the match, 2 down. We have all done that at some point and it’s very disappointing, especially when you’ve played so hard and so well.
Juliette Coffey had a fine match against Romy Bozier, pulling back twice to level at eleven and then again at thirteen before Romy went ahead again to win 3/2.
Laura Eaden, making her debut this week was understandably a little nervous on the first tee, but nevertheless she enjoyed her match with Emma Nagler whose greater experience proved too much to handle. The match finished on thirteen (7/5 to Emma).
Natasha Gregory put her loss of the first match behind her and played some exceptional golf against Errin Earle. 2 up after eight, Natasha rattled in a great putt from fifteen feet at eleven for birdie, which put her 4 up after thirteen. This was a stellar performance by one of the younger members of the team. Natasha won by 3/2.

Day 2 PM. Suffolk v Norfolk
Suffolk faced a stern test against the vastly more experienced Norfolk side.
Leading the team as usual, Georgia Parker found it a struggle against Chloe Gibbs, going six down at one stage but she managed to hang on, clawing a hole or two back, but finally missing out eventually on the sixteenth green (4/2).
Sophie Kubitzek, Juliette Coffey and Jessica Buck all got the wrong end of the stick on the day. Sophie was not at her best against Hope Neild and endured an early exit on the eleventh green. Those who have been playing golf for rather longer would tell her that this sort of defeat happens to everyone at some point in their golfing career. Juliette struggled to keep pace with Maisie Farrelly and went down 4/3, while Jessica played some good golf on the front nine, but couldn’t keep it going against the more experienced Chloe Tarbard who ran out the winner on thirteen (6/5).
Natasha Gregory played very well again after her morning victory but was unable to capture the second point on the day. She lost by 3/2 on the sixteenth green to Polly Norman.
Jasmine Points made a solid impression. On her debut outing with the team, she was the last player to tee off and the youngest squad member at twelve years of age. Playing some exceptional golf, she kept the match close all the way, finally winning seventeen to go all square and take Ruby Patterson down the par five eighteenth. There Jasmine’s approach shot came up short and she had to watch her opponent hole out from six feet and make off with the match point. This was a fantastic performance from Jasmine whose handicap was fourteen shots higher than Ruby’s on the day.
