Suffolk v Cambs & Hunts Day 3 (am)
Leading from the front, Georgia Parker enjoyed a terrific battle with Alex Sparrow which went the full distance and finished in a fitting half. The highlight of Georgia’s round was a pin-point tee shot to two feet at the par 3 thirteenth. The tap-in birdie put her 2up at the time.
Rio Everitt’s match versus Lucy Pepper provided more excitement. Rio was 1 down after six, but she turned that around to be 1 up after ten. Eventually, though, Lucy pulled ahead to win on seventeen (2/1).
Jessica Buck had a difficult start against Morgan Tritton. Going 4 down early on proved too hard to reverse and Morgan ran out the winner on thirteen. (6/5)
Laura Eaden had a close encounter with Olivia Dyson. Laura went 2 up after ten when she set up a birdie with a precise shot to two feet. However, the back nine at Wensum proved tricky for everyone and the many hazards were rather easier for the more experienced Olivia to manage. She was able to overturn Laura’s lead and won on sixteen (3/2)
Natasha Gregory started where she finished on day two with a birdie on the par 5 first hole, moving to a three-hole lead after five. That lead turned into a five-hole advantage after eleven and, although she had a bit of a wobble which benefited Natasha Bamford somewhat, our Natasha got her game back together and held on to win 3/2.
Jasmine Points, playing her second match of the week, struggled against the much greater weight of shot from Jessica Hollingworth and was 3 down after five and 4 down after eleven. Jasmine could have folded, but she is a fighter. She dug deep to hold out as far as sixteen, finally losing by 3/2. Well done, Jasmine! As the youngest player on the Suffolk team she had a fantastic debut.

Day 3 (pm)
Suffolk v Hertfordshire
The girls were getting weary and the rain was hammering down and perhaps it was not a good time to be playing the leading County of Junior Match Week! Nevertheless, the Suffolk team went out determined to fight their corner.
Georgia Parker made birdie on the first hole and then won the second against Emanuelle Hewson. Two up after two was terrific but Hewson soon found her stride, pulled back and was two up herself by the tenth. Georgia was game but found the going tough thereafter and ran out of holes at sixteen, losing 3/2.
Rio Everett’s match against Ellie Farwell, the Herts Captain, was a ding dong battle, ebbing and flowing with no more than one hole in it either way. Rio rolled in a 20 foot putt at fourteen to go all square once more and the match was destined to go down the last. On the eighteenth green Rio’s putt slid past the hole and Ellie’s, from ten feet, was holed for a win by the scant one hole.
Sophie Kubitzek, playing Maddie Rolf, maintained the status quo for seven holes but then Maddie moved up a gear and raced to a three-hole lead after fourteen. There was no way back for Sophie who lost 4/3.
Natasha Gregory, Jessica Buck and Juliette Coffey all lost with holes to spare, but they were fighting their inexperience as well as the appalling weather conditions. So dreadful was it that this overall match, which was out first, was the only one to finish. The referees halted play behind as the water engulfed the course and flooded the greens.
Final result: Suffolk 0, Hertfordshire 6.
To sum up, this was a fine experience for the County’s young team and they kept going really well. Next year, the event will be held in Suffolk, which will be a bonus, and the girls will be a year older and stronger. We hope they will go forward optimistically. There is everything to work for and we will look forward to watching their progress
