DIVISION 3 MEETING 2023

There were 25 ladies (with handicaps ranging from 25 to 31.9 index) who contested the Division 3 Meeting at Fynn Valley on 4th May 2023.  The course was looking lush and green and the weather sunny and Spring like!

Everyone at Fynn Valley was friendly and welcoming and they provided an “army” of helpers.

Bob Crosbie, the President, did a brilliant job as Starter.

Thank you to Sue Poole, the Lady Captain, for organising so many helpers – Chris, Sally, Jane, Lesley, Elaine, Barbara and Gwen to ball spot, wave flags, meet and greet and generally be of assistance.

Jenny Holmes in admin was a big help in running the competition on the computer and went above and beyond even polishing the Cup!

The catering and bar staff also need to be commended for their cheerful and efficient work.

Congratulations to Ginnie Hart of Bramford (and also FV) on winning the beautiful Silver Quiche Cup with 37 points.

2nd (ocb) was Anne Fenning of Stowmarket with 31 points.

3rd was Julie Cook of Seckford 31 points.

Commiserations to Jean Emerson who also had 31 points but missed out on the prizes.

The Belstead Shield was extremely tightly contested with two Clubs scoring 81 points.

Stowmarket prevailed over Fynn Valley with a better back nine total!

Congratulations to Edwina Hughes, Anne Fenning and Hilary Plummer.

DIVISION 4 MEETING 2023

There were 16 ladies (with handicaps ranging from 33 to 51 index) who contested the Division 4 Meeting at Southwold Golf Club on 27th April 2023.  The Course and particularly the Greens were in excellent condition and the competition was played in a very friendly inclusive spirit on a cold and rather windy day.

A big thank you to Southwold for being so welcoming and helpful.
Angela Day, Southwold’s Lady President did a great job as Starter.
Barbara, Penny, Pam and Catherine were so cheerful in the cold wind Meeting and Greeting and Ball Spotting and Tom, the Professional, was a huge help in running the competition on the home computer.
Last but not least we need to thank Lucy and her team in the kitchen

Congratulations to Nicola Titley of Aldeburgh on winning the magnificent Division 4 trophy with 33 points particularly as being new to golf, it was her first competition outside her home course and only her second ever 18 holes!
2nd was Caroline Osmer of Southwold with 32 points.
3rd was Wendy Fry of Felixstowe with 31 points.
Southwold (83 points) won the team event narrowly defeating Bramford (81 points).
Well done to the team of Caroline Osmer, Julia Hill and Amanda Taylor.
