It feels as if Spring has been a long time coming but today the sun was shining, a light breeze was the order of the day and entrants in the Girls Spring Cup were on sparkling form.  What a start to the junior girls 2022 golfing year!

Juliette Coffey relinquished her title to Sophie Kubitzek who came in with an impressive gross score of 74 (Nett 70).  Runner up was Josie Knights with a gross score of 92 (Nett 74)

Although Sophie and Josie secured lower nett scores, as is usual practice, competitors can not win 2 prizes in the same competition.  Therefore, the best qualifying nett score on the day was Talia Brewer (nett 75) and runner up on countback was Juliette Coffey (nett 79).

In addition, the competition was registered as a “qualifier” for the Justin Rose Telegraph Junior Golf Championship 2022.  There will be another chance to compete a qualifier and all winning scores will go on to the national leader-board.  The best (gross) 12 boys and 12 girls will play in the 2022 final at Quinta do Lago, Portugal from 3-5 November 2022.  As their prize, the three boy and three girl net winners (along with a chaperone each) will attend the final at Quinta do Lago.

As the Suffolk Ladies Golf Association AGM was held remotely, the opportunity was also taken for Sue Hayward (Junior Organiser) to present the Trophies for 2021:

Order of Merit:  Sophie Kubitzek; Bury St Edmunds
Junior Girl Golfer: Sophie Kubitzek; Bury St Edmunds
Most improved golfer: Jasmine Points; Bury St Edmunds

Many thanks to Woodbridge Golf Club for hosting the event, as ever the challenging course was in immaculate condition.  A great day full of promise for the future!
