On Sunday 2nd February 2020 Suffolk ladies 1st team played their traditional practice match v Aldeburgh Men. We managed to get a strong team out given the short notice of the match but, of course, it always helps when there is a roast dinner as reward after the golf!!

We played foursomes off scratch with both sides off the red tees. This proved to be a very even format with the 1st pairing of Alice Barlow and Sammy Annis losing 3 & 2, the 2nd pairing of Lils James and Georgia Parker winning 4 & 3, the 3rd pairing of Amanda Norman and Sam Cooper losing 4& 3 and the 4th pairing of Jo Woodward and Sharon Luckman winning 4 & 3, producing a tied match 2-2.

As we are all spread far and wide around the county, our practice matches are an opportunity to try out new foursomes pairings which we did this weekend and for the ladies to meet up and develop as a team.

Thanks to all the Suffolk team who played today, with a special mention for Sam Cooper who was making her debut for the County. Thanks also must go to Aldeburgh Golf Club for hosting and to Dick Jenkinson and the Aldeburgh gentlemen for making the match very enjoyable.

Next up for the Ladies 1st team is training at Ipswich Golf Club 29th February 2020.
