Suffolk Seniors v Suffolk Vets 29 September ‘23 at Halesworth Golf Club

The weather was organised perfectly for us; plenty of sunshine and warmth, no chance of rain and little wind. The course was in good condition and everything was set up perfectly for our match. Playing 4BBB off handicap, all the matches were keenly contested but with great enjoyment and camaraderie, as always. The first match came down to a putt here and there with especially Joan slotting in several long putts just when we thought we had the hole sewn up! The third match was nip and tuck right down to the last putt on the last green. Well done to Lynne and Edwina who had a great win, both playing well, and well fought Ali and Clare who were giving quite a few shots! All in all, though, a fun day!
Chris Lynch-Bates has very kindly presented a trophy for this match, a beautiful crystal bowl, to be known as the ‘Crystal Challenge Bowl’. The Suffolk Vets are obviously the winners this year – congratulations! In future years, if the match is drawn, the trophy will be held by the previous winners though the honours will be shared. We hope to be able to get our team on the plinth in the future!
